International Olympic Committee: Frenchman David Lappartient (UCI) elected member for eight years

David Lappartient (FRA), president of the International Cycling Union (UCI), was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for a term of eight years, during the body's 139th Session held in Beijing (China) on the sidelines of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, on 19/02/2022. Since 2018, David Lappartient has held the position of chairman of the IOC's esports and gaming liaison group, created in the framework of the Olympic Agenda 2020-2025.

David Lappartient was one of five new IOC members elected during the Session (see below), including Olympians Martin Fourcade (France) and Frida Hansdotter (Sweden), who were first elected by their peers to the IOC Athletes' Commission.

"David Lappartient is currently serving a second term as UCI president (elected in 2017, re-elected in 2020 until 2025). He previously chaired the French Cycling Federation from 2009 to 2017 and the European Cycling Union from 2013 to 2017. He was also a director of the CNOSF (2009-2017)," said the French Olympic Committee the same day.
