Automotive: FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura becomes an independent member of the FIA Senate

Fatma Samoura (SEN), secretary general at FIFA, has joined the FIA Senate, the most important decision-making body of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), in charge of governance and finance, as an independent (and voluntary) member, announced FIFA on 21/02/2022.

"I'm honoured to have been appointed as an independent member of the FIA Senate by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem (United Arab Emirates). I look forward to working with him and the other members of the Senate to shape a progressive, inclusive and sustainable future for the FIA and its stakeholders," said Fatma Samoura.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem succeeded Frenchman Jean Todt as president of the FIA at the body's general assembly in Paris (FRA) on 17/12/2021.

Fatma Samoura "will utilise her experience in reform, good governance, encouraging diversity and gender equality in the Senate, which brings together the sport and mobility pillars of the FIA and handles issues relating to management and general policy of the federation," explained FIFA.
