Leicester City FC: a turnover of £226.2m (+50.1%) and net loss of £31.2m in 2020-21

Leicester City FC (Premier League) posted a turnover of £226.2m (€263.1m as of 31/05/2021) for the financial year 2021 (from 01/06/2020 to 31/05/2021), up 50.1% compared to the financial year 2020 (£149.9m/€166.5m), announced the English club on 17/02/2022.

"Outstanding on-pitch performance during the period saw the club's men's team secure fifth place in each of those seasons (jointly, the club's second-best ever Premier League finishes), ongoing participation in the UEFA Europa League and a first FA Cup in its 138-year history - all of which contributed to notable growth in revenue," said Leicester City, which posted a sharp increase in TV rights (+58.8%) and sponsorship-advertising revenue (+57.1%), which more than made up for the virtual absence of ticket sales (-95.8%) in a season marked by the widespread closure of stadiums due to the pandemic.

As a result of increased expenses and lower transfer market revenue, Leicester City FC did, however, post a net loss of £31.2m (€36.3m), compared to a net deficit of £60.1m (€66.7m) at the end of the 2019-20 season. The club estimates…
