Conflict in Ukraine: Manchester United breaks partnership with Russian airline Aeroflot

"In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot's sponsorship rights. We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected," announced Manchester United FC (Premier League) on 25/02/2022. This decision follows the conflict triggered in Ukraine by Vladimir Putin's Russia on Thursday 02/24/2022.

Aeroflot, a 51% Russian state-owned airline, has been a partner of Manchester United since 2013-14. The partnership was renewed for the 2018-2024 cycle and a total agreement worth £40m (€48m). The airline was banned from flying in UK airspace following a decision by the UK government on 24/02/2022. In response to the sanction, the Russian government banned all aircraft "owned, leased or operated by a person connected with Great Britain" from entering its airspace, including transit flights.
