Transfers: SL Benfica's academy the world's most "profitable" in terms of revenue since 2015 (CIES)

With €379m received via the sale of players that have graduated from its academy, SL Benfica (Liga Portugal Bwin) is the club that has generated the most revenue since 2015, according to the "Weekly Post" from the CIES Football Observatory published on 28/02/2022. The Portuguese club is followed by Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) in second place with €330m and AS Monaco FC (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), completing the podium with €285m.

SL Benfica benefited most notably from the club-record transfer of João Félix (POR) to Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) for €126m in 2019, which accounted for 32% of the revenue collected. AS Monaco also benefited in particular from their club-record €180m transfer of Kylian Mbappé (FRA) to Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), which accounted for 63% of revenue received.
