TV advertising: Global market of €180bn in 2020, +38% compared to 2013 (Digital TV Research)

Global TV advertising expenditure will reach $236bn (€179.6bn) in 2020, a 38% increase compared to 2013 ($172bn, €130.9), and 54% higher than in 2010 ($154bn, €117.2bn), said the study "TV Advertising Forecasts" by the British research institute Digital TV Research on 20/08/2014.

TV advertising expenditure is expected to grow by 4% in 2014 in the 55 countries studied by Digital TV Research, 1.8 point better than in 2013 (2.2%). "Positives for TV advertising in 2014 include World Cup soccer in Brazil and economic improvement in much of Europe. However, not all countries have fully recovered economically. Devaluation is a factor in some markets, such as Venezuela. In addition, internal conflicts in countries such as Israel, Thailand and the Ukraine have damaged the advertising industry,” explained Simon Murray, author of the study "TV Advertising Forecasts" and founder of Digital TV Research.
