War in Ukraine: EA Sports (gaming) to remove Russian national team and clubs from its FIFA games

"In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports has initiated processes to remove the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from EA Sports FIFA products including: FIFA 22, FIFA mobile and FIFA online. We're also actively evaluating related changes to other areas of our games," announced the American video game publisher, a subsidiary of the Electronic Arts group and holder of the "FIFA" license (football video game), on 02/03/2022.

At issue is the invasion of Ukraine by Russia under Vladimir Putin, which began on Thursday 24/02/2022, and which has led to the suspension, of Russian teams (national teams and clubs) from all international football competitions until further notice (see below), as announced on 28/02/2022 by FIFA and UEFA. "EA Sports stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine," said the video game publisher, whose decision affects all of its FIFA offerings (FIFA 22, FIFA Online and FIFA mobile).
