adidas: a turnover of €21.2bn (+15%) and net profit of €1.492bn (3x higher than in 2020) in 2021

adidas Group posted a turnover of €21.234bn for the financial year 2021 (01/01 to 31/12/2021), up 15.2% compared to 2020 (€18.4bn), a year marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of stores, announced the German equipment manufacturer on 09/03/2022. This turnover is lower than those of 2019 (€23.6bn) and 2018 (€21.9bn), but equivalent to that of 2017 (€21.2bn).

The group with 61,401 employees (53% of whom are women) posted an operating profit of €1.98bn, more than double that of 2020 (€751m). adidas' net profit more than tripled from €461m to €1.49bn in one year. Group EBITDA was €3bn, up 56% compared to 2020 (€1.96bn).

adidas' marketing and "point-of-sale" expenses were €2.54bn, a segment that is up 7.3% versus 2020 (€2.37bn). The group has 2,184 stores.

From a market perspective, sales increased in all three product categories (footwear, apparel and accessories/gear).
• Footwear represents 53% of the group's sales (€11.3bn, +12%),
• Apparel represents 41% of adidas' sales (€7.3bn, +19%),
• Accessories/gear accounted for 6% of sales (€1.1bn, +20%).
