Belgium: US investment firm 777 Partners (Genoa, Sevilla FC, etc.) to acquire Standard de Liège

"Bruno Venanzi has reached an agreement with the American alternative investment company 777 Partners, which will buy 100% of the shares of Matricule 16 and thus become the new owner of Standard Liege," announced the Jupiler Pro League club on 11/03/2022. The Italian-born Belgian businessman became Standard's majority shareholder in June 2015 after acquiring the shares of former chairman Roland Duchâtelet.

777 Partners, founded in 2015 and based in Miami (Florida), is currently increasing its acquisitions in the sports sector. A minority shareholder (around 5%) in Sevilla FC (LaLiga Santander) since 2018, the American company acquired 99.9% of Genoa CFC (Serie A TIM) in September 2021, then 45% of the British Basketball League (BBL) for £7m (€8.2m) a month later. 777 Partners is also in the process of acquiring 70% of CR Vasco da Gama for R$700m (€120m), as announced by the Brazilian club (second division) on 21/02/2022.
