The 2014 list of prohibited substances and methods has been updated by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency), and comes into force on 01/09/2014, announced the agency on 27/08/2014.

The argon and xenon gases were added to the 2014 Prohibited List, similar to products such as EPO or FIH (factors induced by hypoxia), which stimulate blood oxygenation and therefore enhance sports performance via endurance.

"This change will take effect three months after the notification by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in all Member States. The recommendation to amend the list in 2014 was proposed and adopted by the executive committee of the Anti-Doping Agency at its meeting in May 2014," stated WADA.
