War in Ukraine: Eintracht Frankfurt ends its agreement with Kaspersky (RUS, cybersecurity)

"We've informed Kaspersky's (cybersecurity, RUS) management that we're terminating the sponsorship agreement with immediate effect," said Axel Hellmann, spokesperson for the board at Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga), on 15/03/2022.

"Following Tuesday's official, formal warning from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), which expresses doubt about the reliability of cyber security systems manufacturer Kaspersky, a partnership built on trust in its products and services is no longer possible in this highly sensitive area," said Eintracht Frankfurt, for whom Kaspersky had been a premium partner since 24/08/2018.

"A Russian IT manufacturer can carry out offensive operations itself, be forced to attack target systems against its will, or itself be spied on as a victim of a cyber operation without its knowledge or be misused as a tool for attacks against its own customers," explained the German authority the same day.
