France/LFP: exclusive negotiations with CVC for the sale of 13% of its commercial company (€1.5bn)

"Following a competitive process and after a detailed review of the firm offers received, the board of directors of the Ligue de Football Professionnel has today unanimously decided to enter into exclusive negotiations with CVC Capital Partners as part of the project to create a commercial company," announced the LFP on 18/03/2022.

"This operation would allow the LFP to sell 13% of the new commercial company for €1.5bn, valuing the company at €11.5bn. An announcement will be made when the final documentation is signed, which is expected to happen in the coming weeks," said the League.

"The LFP received around ten indicative offers from leading financial investors, recognised in particular for their strong expertise in the sports, entertainment and digital sectors," announced the body on 14/12/2021. The American investment funds Silver Lake, Hellman & Friedman and Oaktree Capital were among the candidates and were selected for the next stage, along with CVC Capital Partners, which was ultimately chosen by the League's board of directors.
