FIFA: Nigerian federation has until 08/09/2014 to reinstate former leaders

The NFF (Nigerian Football Federation) "will be suspended with immediate effect should there still be persons claiming to have been elected to NFF positions on 26/08/2014 occupying their offices," said FIFA (Federation International de Football Association), in a letter to the Nigerian federation following a meeting of the FIFA Emergency Committee on 03/09/2014.

The ultimatum follows FIFA's refusal to recognise the election of Christopher Giwa, president of Giwa FC (first Nigerian division), at the presidency of the Nigerian federation during the congress of the NFF on 26/08/2014. Aminu Maigari, the former president of the NFF, was imprisoned by Nigerian authorities on the morning of the first vote and was released the next day, 27/08/2014.
