Chelsea FC: club allowed to receive up to £30m from holding company Fordstam and to sell tickets

Several amendments have been made to the operating licence granted by the British government to Chelsea FC (Premier League) on 10/03/2022 as part of the sanctions against its owner Roman Abramovich, due to his closeness to President Vladimir Putin. In order for Chelsea to continue operating until the ongoing sale process is completed, it is now allowed to receive up to £30m from Fordstam Ltd, the holding company of the Russian oligarch who legally owns the club, but also to resume selling tickets for future away matches, according to the British media on 24/03/2022.

Chelsea is currently subject to a "special licence" granted by the British government, which allows for the club to pay the salaries of its employees, including players and staff, incur "reasonable" expenses (security, catering, hospitality, travel) during away matches (maximum £20,000/€23,848 per match) and home matches (£500,000/€596,210 per match), and host its season ticket holders, as well as holders of tickets purchased before the sanctions were implemented, at Stamford Bridge (London, ENG) for the 2021-22 season.…
