Qatar 2022 qualifiers: 9.7 million viewers for Italy - North Macedonia on Rai 1 (Italy eliminated)

Italy - North Macedonia (0-1), semi-final of the Europe zone qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, drew an average of 9.7 million viewers on the Italian public TV channel Rai 1, on Thursday 24/03/2022 (kick-off at 20:45 CET), according to data from the audience measurement institute Auditel. This figure represented an audience share of 39.3%.

Italy will therefore not participate in the World Cup for the second edition in a row (after the 2018 World Cup in Russia). They will face Turkey in a friendly on Tuesday 29/03/2022, while Portugal (winner against Turkey) will face North Macedonia in Porto (POR) in one of the three finals of the qualifiers, on the same day (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

Poland (who qualified directly after the cancellation of their match against Russia) will play Sweden, while Wales will play Scotland or Ukraine (match postponed in June 2022 due to the war in Ukraine waged by Vladimir Putin's Russia since 24/02/2022) in the two other finals.
