Bundesliga: VfL Wolfsburg to market virtual merchandise in the form of NFTs

VfL Wolfsburg (Bundesliga) has partnered with the start-up The Football Company (TFC) to create virtual merchandise in the form of NFTs (shorts, shirts, scarves, etc.) that will be marketed from 31/03/2022 on the blockchain platform dedicated to football, announced the club on 22/03/2022.

"On the virtual TFC marketplace, as well as other relevant platforms in the medium term, VfL fans will be able to put these blockchain-based, licenced garments on their avatars, collect and trade them, and use them to take part in the management game" developed by the Munich (GER) based company, said the German club.

The Football Company has entered into a two-and-a-half year licensing agreement with the DFL from 2021-22, which allows it to sign private partnerships with Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs. Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga) and SV Werder Bremen (2.Bundesliga) have already partnered with the start-up founded in 2020.
