Spain: Movistar (Telefonica) enters distribution agreement with DAZN for the broadcasting of LaLiga

The Spanish telecoms operator Telefonica has entered into a non-exclusive distribution agreement, for its pay-TV package Movistar Plus+, with the OTT platform DAZN for its upcoming DAZN LaLiga package in Spain over the 2022-2027 cycle, announced the two groups on 29/03/2022.

Telefonica and DAZN acquired the pay-TV broadcasting rights to LaLiga Santander in Spain over the 2022-2027 cycle on 13/12/2021 (see details below). Thanks to the distribution agreement, Telefonica will be able to offer all LaLiga Santander matches (5 per matchday on Movistar LaLiga, 5 per matchday on DAZN LaLiga) from the 2022-23 season.

The two groups had previously signed a distribution agreement on 20/01/2021. In addition to the distribution of DAZN by MovistarPlus+, this agreement includes the sublicensing of the Formula 1 broadcasting rights by Telefonica to DAZN until 2023.
