Qatar 2022: €398m in total prize money, €38m for the winners, €27m for the finalists

$440m/€398m, is the total amount that the federations of the 32 participating teams in the 2022 World Cup will share, according to FIFA on 01/04/2022, following the draw for the final stages of the competition in Doha (QAT) (see composition of groups below).

This €398m represents over a quarter (26%) of the €1.535bn in expenses budgeted by the International Federation for the year 2022 to finance the organisation of the XXII World Cup (see infographic below) awarded to Qatar on 02/12/2010.

Prize money distribution for the 32 national teams:
⚽️ Winners: $42m/€38m
⚽️ Finalists: $30m/€27m
⚽️ Third (winners of the match for third place): $27m/€24.5m
⚽️ Fourth: $25m/€22.5m
⚽️ Places 5 to 8 (i.e. the 4 teams eliminated in the quarter-finals): $17m/€15.3m per team, i.e. a total of $68m/€61.5m.
⚽️ Places 9 to 16 (i.e. the 8 teams eliminated in the Round of 16): $13m/€11.7m per team, i.e. a total of $104m/€94m.
⚽️ Places 17 to 32 (i.e. the 16 teams eliminated at the end of the group stage): $9m/€8.1m per team, i.e. a total of $144m/€130.3m.
