FIFA: "Michel Platini is fed up with turning the other cheek" (Najwa El Haïté, M. Platini's lawyer)

"Michel Platini is fed up with having to turn the other cheek all the time. You have a man who is fed up with having his dignity affected when he has nothing to reproach himself for. Today Michel Platini is taking action. He does not want to let it happen any more," said Najwa El Haïté, lawyer of the former UEFA president (2007-2015) to News Tank Football on 05/04/2022.

Michel Platini published a press release on Tuesday 05/04/2022 (read below) to indicate "that he has filed a criminal complaint against Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, for 'active influence peddling' with the Public Prosecutor of Paris, on 17/11/2021," i.e. four and a half months earlier.

The former French international, three-time Ballon d'Or winner, was suspended from all functions in football for four years (08/10/2015 - 08/10/2019) because of a payment by FIFA of CHF 2m, or €1.54m at the time of the payment in 2011 for his functions between 1999 and 2002 as an advisor to Joseph Blatter, then president of FIFA.
