Italy/FIGC: first meeting of the permanent working group responsible for reforming football, in Rome

The permanent working group for the reforms of Italian football met for the first time in Rome (ITA), said the FIGC on 06/04/2022.

"This working group, composed of the presidents of all the federal structures (see below), was desired by Gabriele Gravina, FIGC president, with the aim of giving new impetus to the renewal of football after two years of the pandemic," explained the Italian Federation.

The FIGC made no reference to Italy's absence from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after their elimination at home (Palermo, Sicily) versus Northern Macedonia (0-1) in the semi-final of the European play-offs on 24/03/2022. The Azzurri, four-time winners of the competition (1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006), had previously failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
