Nigeria: general secretary of the federation reinstated in his functions following FIFA ultimatum

Musa Amadu, the general secretary of the NFF (Nigerian Football Federation), was reinstated into his office, according to the British sports channel BBC Sport on 08/09/2014.

The reinstatement of Musa Amadu follows FIFA's (Federation Internationale de Football Association) ultimatum to the NFF on 03/09/2014. The international organisation ordered the Nigerian federation to reinstate the outgoing regime to its office before 08/09/2014 at 8:00 CET.

The ultimatum followed FIFA's refusal to recognise the election of Christopher Giwa, president of Giwa FC (first Nigerian division), to the presidency of the Nigerian federation during the congress of the NFF on 26/08/2014. Aminu Maigari, the former president of the NFF, and person who appointed Musa Amadu to general secretary, was imprisoned by Nigerian authorities on the morning of the first vote and was released the next day, on 27/08/2014.
