Spain: Movistar Plus+ (Telefonica group) launches a TV channel entirely dedicated to women's sport

Movistar Plus+, the Spanish pay-TV bouquet, is launching "Ellas #V", a channel exclusively dedicated to women's sports, announced Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica on 06/04/2022. The channel (56 in Spain) will be available from 08/04/2022.

All women's sports competitions to which Telefonica holds the rights will be broadcast live and delayed on this new channel: Primera Iberdrola, Women's Champions League, Copa de la Reina, Liga Femenina (first division) and European basketball competitions, WTA and Grand Slam tournaments, Diamond League (athletics), TikTok Women's Six Nations (rugby), WNBA, LPGA/LET (golf) and the World Padel Tour, as well as some winter sports competitions, cycling, gymnastics and weightlifting. The channel will also broadcast reports, documentaries and content dedicated to women's sport.

"We want to contribute to the growth and increased visibility of women's sport, and the creation of this channel is a further step in our strategy to build a more equal future in sport," said Telefonica.
