Major League Baseball: NBC Sports (Peacock) to broadcast 18 regular season games starting in 2022

NBCUniversal, through its subsidiary NBC Sports Group, has acquired the US rights to broadcast 18 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season games beginning with the 2022 season, announced the US media and entertainment conglomerate on 06/04/2022. The deal is reported to be for two seasons and worth $30m a year, according to US media.

"Peacock will live stream an NBC Sports-produced baseball game for 18 consecutive weeks, with start times for the first six Sunday games at 11:30 East Coast Time (beginning with Chicago White Sox - Boston Red Sox, 08/05/2022) and the following 12 Sunday games beginning at Noon. Each game will feature NBC Sports-produced pregame and post-game shows on Peacock. Peacock will also feature classic MLB games, award-winning documentaries and highlight packages available on-demand in a new MLB hub," continued the conglomorate.

The 2022 MLB season is also being broadcast in the United States via ESPN (Disney), Turner Sports (WarnerMedia), Fox Sports, as well as via the Apple TV+ streaming service, which has acquired exclusive multi-year media rights to two games…
