Forbes: F. Pinault (Stade Rennais) & D. Mateschitz (RB Leipzig) among 10 Richest Sports Team Owners

François Pinault, owner of Stade Rennais FC (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), and Dietrich Mateschitz, owner of the Red Bull group which includes RB Leipzig (Bundesliga), are the two representatives from the European Top 5 to appear in the ranking of "The World's Richest Sports Team Owners 2022", according to the American business magazine Forbes, which published its annual Top 10 on 05/04/2022 (see full list below).

The French businessman, whose fortune is estimated at $40.4bn (€36.3bn as of 31/03/2022), was ranked third place, just ahead of the Austrian entrepreneur ($27.4bn/€24.6m), who also owns the New York Red Bulls (MLS) and the Red Bull Racing team (Formula 1). Russian Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea FC (Premier League), is no longer included in this ranking due to the consequences of the war in Ukraine on his assets (see box below).

In the top two places are Steve Ballmer, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers (NBA), with a fortune of $91.4bn (€82.1bn), followed by Mukesh Ambani (Mumbai Indians, cricket) with a fortune valued at $90.7bn (€81.4bn).
