TF1/M6 merger project: agreement to sell TFX (TF1) and 6ter (M6) to Altice in the event of a merger

Altice Media has announced that it has reached an agreement with the French free-to-air television groups TF1 and M6 concerning the sale of the DTT channels TFX (TF1) and 6ter (M6), an acquisition that is "conditional on the authorisation of the competent authorities (the Competition Authority and Arcom) and the completion of the planned merger between TF1 and M6," said the subsidiary of the telecommunications operator Altice France on 08/04/2022.

Altice Media had entered into exclusive negotiations with TF1 and M6 on 28/02/2022 regarding these disposals, which are part of the planned merger between the TF1 and M6 groups, announced on 17/05/2021. Following this operation, the group formed will only be able to publish seven national channels on DTT, in accordance with the limit defined by French regulations (the two groups currently hold 10 channels: TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI for TF1; M6, W9, Gulli, 6ter and Paris Première for M6).
