Financial fair play: ECA to redistribute the €24m withheld from clubs in European competitions

The €24m collected in 2014 from the nine clubs that did not comply with UEFA's (Union of European Football Associations) financial fair play rules will be redistributed to clubs that played in European competitions in the 2013-14 season, the ECA (European Club Association) announced at its 13th general assembly in Geneva (Switzerland) on 08 and 09/09/2014.

Following discussions with UEFA, the ECA demanded that 80% of this amount be redistributed in equal shares to clubs that reached the group stage of the 2013-14 Champions League and of the Europa League, or approximately €265,000 per club. The remaining 20%, or €4.8m, will be distributed to the clubs that played in the qualifying round without reaching the group stage.

This recommendation will be presented to the UEFA's Executive Committee for final approval. The Executive Committee is scheduled to meet on 18 and 19/09/2014.
