Formula 1: Volkswagen to invest nearly €1bn to enter F1 via Audi and Porsche by 2026

The German car manufacturer Volkswagen is expected to invest around €1bn by 2026 to bring its Audi and Porsche brands into Formula 1, according to specialised media reports on 08/04/2022. The group based in Wolfsburg (GER), which confirmed its intention to join F1 on 07/04/2022, is making its entry into the discipline conditional on it becoming "more sustainable."

Porsche is reportedly in discussions with Red Bull to become the next official engine manufacturer for the group's two teams, Oracle Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri. By 2026, the overall investment by Porsche, which could also become the title sponsor of Red Bull Racing from 2025, is estimated at €265m.

Audi would rather have its own team, similar to the strategy pursued by Mercedes-Benz since 2010 following its entry into F1 via the purchase of Brawn GP. Further details:
