Brazil: Puma to equip São Paulo FC from 2015; Under Armour negotiates with Santos FC

The German brand Puma will be the new supplier of São Paulo FC (Serie A, Brazilian first division) from the 2015 season, according to several media outlets on 09/09/2014.

Puma will pay an estimated 15m reais (€5m) annually for the 2015-2019 period. São Paulo FC is currently equipped by the Brazilian brand Penalty in 2014. The contract ends after the 2015 season, but the club decided to terminate the deal one year earlier. São Paulo FC criticised Penalty for delays in the delivery of products. The 2.25m reais (€0.76m) early termination fee will be paid by Puma, said São Paulo FC.

Puma equips four Serie A clubs in 2014: Botafogo FR, Atlético Mineiro, Goiás EC, and EC Vitória. The brand is not expected to extend its contract with Botafogo FR to the 2015 season, stated several Brazilian media outlets.

Santos FC (Serie A), currently under contract with Nike, is negotiating with the American brand Under Armour. The Baltimore (Maryland) based brand could pay an estimated 20m reais (€6.7m) per year to equip the former club of Pelé and Neymar. The contract would also cover the five season…
