Social media: Premier League, the most followed European league ahead of LaLiga and the Bundesliga

With 135 million followers on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, as of 11/04/2022), the Premier League is the most followed European league, according to the fourth edition of "The European Football Club" report, published by the Italian consultancy IQUII Sport on 14/04/2022.

The English professional league is ahead of LaLiga, which has 2.4 million less followers (132.6 million) across the four social networks examined. These two leagues alone comprise more than 81% of the 329.7 million followers accumulated by the 15 leagues included in the study (the first two divisions in France, England, Germany, Italy and Spain; the first division only in Portugal, Russia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Ukraine). Far behind, the Bundesliga completes the podium with 23.3 million followers.

The Serie A TIM (20.1 million followers) and Ligue 1 Uber Eats (13.3 million) are in fourth and fifth place respectively. Outside the European Top 5, the Tinkoff Russian Premier Liga (6th; 1.3 million followers), Liga Portugal Bwin (7th; 1.1 million) and Eredivisie (9th; 648,600) also feature…
