J.League: TikTok, official partner of the Japanese football league from April 2022

TikTok, a video sharing platform, has become an official partner of the J. League, announced the Japanese League on 11/04/2022.

"TikTok has a lot of Generation Z users, which is a segment we especially want to reach. Our hope is that through this partnership they'll learn about the league and our clubs, come to the stadium, watch games and grow an interest in soccer. An important part of developing our league is figuring out how to widen our circle of friends, and with one video we can extend that circle. We want to use TikTok to present aspects of the J. League that we haven't been able to show before," said Yoshikazu Nonomura, president of the J.League.

As part of the partnership, the J.League will hold three "hashtag challenges" during the season. These challenges are designed to encourage fans to post videos related to their experiences on matchdays in the Japanese league. As part of the agreement, Japanese comedian Unparunpa, who has 1.5 million followers on TikTok, has been appointed as an ambassador for the J. League.
