CIES: Athletic Club, Top 5 club with the most minutes played by club-trained players in 2021-22

Athletic Club Bilbao (LaLiga Santander) is the European Top 5 (Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy) club with the highest percentage of minutes played by players trained at the club since the start of the 2021-22 season, according to the CIES Football Observatory's "Weekly Post", published on 25/04/2022.

With 55.8% of minutes played by players trained at the club (total accumulated by 15 players), the Basque club, 3^rd in 2020-21, ranks ahead of two other Spanish clubs: Real Sociedad (43.9%, 17 players) and RC Celta (41.2%, 11 players, 1^st in the ranking in 2020-21). Three French clubs follow: AS Saint-Étienne (35.6%), Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (34.5%) and Olympique Lyonnais (33.1%).

The Top 20 includes seven LaLiga Santander clubs, six Premier League clubs, three Ligue 1 Uber Eats and three Bundesliga clubs and just one Serie A TIM club. At the bottom of the table, a total of 16 clubs gave less than 1% of the available playing time to club-trained players, half of whom did not play a single minute.
