United Kingdom: Viaplay to broadcast European national team matches (excluding England) from 2024

The streaming platform Viaplay, owned by the Swedish pay and free-TV group Nent (Nordic entertainment group), has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to the matches of the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish national teams, in the United Kingdom, over the 2024-2028 cycle, announced the platform on 27/04/2022. Viaplay will also broadcast the matches of the other European national teams (excluding England).

These rights, acquired from UEFA via the Swiss agency CAA Eleven, include qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup and Euro 2028, the 2024-25 and 2026-27 Nations League and friendly matches.

For the 2018-2022 cycle, the British pay-TV operator Sky held the exclusive UK broadcasting rights to all Nations League matches (including England's). The British free-TV group ITV held the rights to England's qualifying matches for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

The awarding of the rights for the 2022-2024 cycle, including those for England, has not yet been communicated. Viaplay was not interested in acquiring the rights to matches from June 2022 as the platform is about to launch…
