Women's Super League: 125,000 viewers on average per game, "+170% compared to BT" (G. Hughes, Sky)

The Women's Super League (Barclays FA WSL) has an average of 125,000 viewers per match on Sky, figures which are "better than expected," according to Gary Hughes, head of football at UK pay-TV operator Sky, during the SportsPro Live conference in London (ENG) on 26/04/2022, after 20 matchdays (out of 22) of the 2021-22 English women's football league season.

This pay-TV audience figure is up 170% on the 2020-21 season broadcast by Sky's rival BT Sport, according to Gary Hughes, who added that the WSL has posted a cumulative audience of six million viewers this season and that the highest audience so far was recorded during the Manchester City FC - Tottenham Hotspur FC match (1-2), which was watched by an average of 550,000 viewers on 12/09/2021.
