FC Barcelona: City Council grants permit to begin renovation work on the Camp Nou in June 2022

The Barcelona City Council (Catalonia, ESP) has granted the building permit and thus given its approval for the renovation of the Camp Nou to begin at the end of the 2021-22 season, i.e. from June 2022, announced FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) on 28/04/2022.

The renovation of the Camp Nou is the main focus of Espai Barça, a major project to modernise the club's infrastructure and eventually generate €200m in additional revenue. It will cost around €900m, or 60% of the total project cost (€1.5bn, see below). "The work will focus on the first and second tier, technological aspects, the environs of the stadium, and exterior urbanisation," explained the club.

While the work will not affect the first team's matches at the Catalan stadium in 2022-23, this will be the case for the following two seasons.
