Darren Eales (ENG) was appointed club president of Atlanta, the MLS (Major League Soccer, the North American football league) franchise on 10/09/2014.

Darren Eales, 42 years old, has been the executive director of Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League) since 2010. He will leave the London-based club "later this year, following a transition period," said the Atlanta franchise.

The city of Atlanta (Georgia, United States) was chosen to host the 22nd MLS franchise on 16/04/2014. The future franchise, which will enter MLS in the 2017 season, belongs to Arthur Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot, a company that distributes household equipment, and owner of the Atlanta Falcons, an NFL (National Football League) franchise.
