LaLiga Santander: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts of the 20 clubs (May 2022)

The 20 clubs in the 2021-22 LaLiga Santander season have nearly 586 million fans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/05/2022. This total makes the Spanish first division the second most popular European Top 5 league on the three social networks combined, behind the Premier League (643 million fans), with an average of 29.2 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF is the most popular Spanish club with more than 268 million fans, while FC Barcelona, second, with more than 253 million, are ahead of the 2020-21 Spanish champions, Club Atlético de Madrid, in third place with 33.1 million.

Real Madrid posted the best growth in absolute value during the month of April 2022 with an additional 3.1 million followers in total, 73.6% of which were on Instagram alone. No other club participating in the European Top 5 performed better over the same period.

Villarreal CF posted the best percentage growth among the clubs of the Spanish championship on Instagram (+8.4%) and Twitter (+5.7%), while promoted side  Cádiz CF posted the best percentage…
