Rugby Australia: a turnover of €66m (+49%) and a loss of €3m in 2021

Rugby Australia has posted a loss of AU$4.5m (€3m) for 2021, according to the body on 28/04/2022. The Federation posted loss was AU$27.1m in 2020 (€17.4m).

"In 2021, RA continued to be impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, but not to the extent of the challenges faced in 2020. RA's revenue for 2021 increased by $32.6m or 49% (AU$65.99m in 2020) to AU$98.58m (€66m), primarily due to a $14m (€9.4m) increase in broadcast revenue, a $8m (€5.4m) increase in match revenue and a $7m increase in sponsorship revenue," explained the body in its 2021 Annual Report.

"In 2021, the RA commercial program experienced one of its best years on record (AUS$22.3m compared to AUS$15.3m in 2020). This was achieved through increasing partnership revenues across the Wallabies, Wallaroos (men's and women's rugby union teams) and Super Rugby programs, driven through new major partner deals with Cadbury Mondelez (confectionery), Harvey Norman (distribution) and Stone & Wood (brewery), as well as the retention and upgrade of existing partnerships, including with eToro (trading), Land Rover (car manufacturer) and…
