Spain: RFEF again found guilty of abuse of a dominant position after excluding Mediapro from tender

The Commercial Court of Madrid finds the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) guilty of abusing its dominant market position, after excluding Mediapro from the tender for the awarding of the audiovisual rights to the 2019 Copa del Rey final, according to the Spanish audiovisual group on 03/05/2022.

"Commercial Court in Madrid handed down a verdict of guilty to the RFEF for acting contrary to the provisions of Article 2 of Spanish Antitrust Act and Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, abusing its dominant market position by excluding Mediapro from the tender for the final of the Copa del Rey in 2019. The ruling confirms that the RFEF imposed 'unequal conditions for similar service provision that place certain bidders at a disadvantage compared to others'," explained Mediapro.
