"The challenge is to double our TV rights abroad (about €196m per year, see below). We want to build a community of people interested in watching football and enjoying it, avoiding the continuation of this scourge of piracy that limits resources," said Luigi De Siervo, CEO of the Lega Serie A, on 09/05/2022.

The Lega Serie A and all Italian professional sports leagues can now market their broadcasting rights without time constraints for international markets, after the Italian Council of Ministers approved changes to the Melandri law (which limited the duration of TV rights contracts abroad to three years) on 05/05/2022.

"This is something that will allow us to create real partnerships with broadcasters, who will accompany us over time to grow the product. We have to get out of a system of rules that in Italy has blocked marketing abroad. We are structuring a group of professionals who will try to make our championship ever more interesting by creating content in all languages and on all types of social networks.
