GSW: Qatar 2022, AFCON 2023, World Rugby and Dakar 2026 discuss the sustainability of events

"We have to look beyond the sporting event: what are we going to leave to the Ivory Coast? We are going to provide the country with sports and hotel infrastructures, and strengthen the technical facilities already in place; but the most important thing is to leave a legacy. 77% of the Ivorian population is under 35 years of age: we are therefore focusing on the training of volunteers for the event, which we will train in sports-related professions," said François Amichia, president of the AFCON 2023 organising committee.

The former Minister of Sports and Leisure for the Ivory Coast spoke during Global Sports Week 2022, held at the Accor Arena in Paris (FRA) from 09 to 13/05/2022. Representatives from Qatar 2022, Dakar 2026 and World Rugby also took part in the debate entitled "Mega Events vs Sustainable Impact."
