"It is fundamental to have devoted resources and channels for women because the audience for men's and women's basketball are not the same. They don't have the same fans but our role is also to break the barriers between them. We have to try and create new role models, women's role models for young girls," said Andreas Zagklis, 10/05/2022.

The secretary general of FIBA spoke during a session entitled "Women's Sport vs The Men's Sport Model" at Global Sports Week 2022, held at the Accor Arena in Paris (FRA), alongside Amina Lanaya, director general of the UCI, Kate Veronneau, director of content and women's strategy at Zwift and Raffaella Masciadri, president of the Athletes' Commission for CONI and team manager for the women's basketball team Famila Basket Schio.

"Zwift provides a connection to fans and audiences. We have that to offer. If we do it, we get a return. We invest, through cycling, beyond the athletes, in sportswomen who are also mothers, graduates, etc., who appeal to a wider audience.
