UEFA: Annual Report 2020-21

"By successfully delivering Euro 2020 (in 2021), safely allowing fans back into stadiums and completing all scheduled competitions, UEFA generated €5.7bn in revenue in 2020-21 - a €2.7bn increase on the previous reporting period (2019-20, €3bn)," said the body in its Annual Report 2020-21 published on 11/05/2022.

"Several factors contributed to our highest ever revenue in a European championship:
• Full recognition of revenue from the postponed Euro tournament in the 2020-21 financial year;
• Returning of club competitions revenues to near pre-pandemic levels;
• Further benefits taken from centralising European qualifiers and introducing the Nations League," continued UEFA.

"Our strong financial performance, together with the availability of cash reserves, provided firm foundations to support European football in its hour of need. Advance payments helped clubs to cover revenue losses, while Euro distribution payments to participating associations still increased by €30m - despite lower tournament revenue.
