Serie A TIM: Sampdoria plan to build stadium, "a rotunda on the sea," in the marina in Genoa

Sampdoria (Serie A TIM) plan to build a stadium in the marina area of Genoa, the president of club, Massimo Ferrero, confirmed on 11/09/2014.

"I do not dream the stadium, I build it," said the president of Sampdoria to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. Massimo Ferrero, film producer and owner of 60 cinemas in Rome, replaced Edoardo Garrone as club president on 12/06/2014.

Massimo Ferrero explained that the mayor of Genoa, Marco Doria, had told him that he agreed to develop the project. "It will be the most beautiful stadium in Europe because it will be built on the sea. It will be a rotunda on the sea. I want Renzo Piano to be involved in this project," added the president of Sampdoria. Renzo Piano (ITA) is the architect that designed the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1977 in Paris (FRA).

"Who is going to pay? Am I going to pay for everyone? There will be investors, besides me of course. There must also be shows and entertainment. We must create jobs for the youth. The city must give us concessions for 99 years because after that, the stadium will belong to the inhabitants…
