France/Basketball: "Proving our tokenization model to the NBA" (Greg Heuss, CounterPointe Sports)

"We started in the United States and we were in talks with the NBA. They liked our idea (to sell shares of the club as tokens), told us that we were very early and to go prove that model somewhere. It took about a year and we finally closed on the deal with Elan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez (Betclic Elite) in July 2021. Pau is perfect because of its size and fanbase, because of how popular and what an historic team it is", said Greg Heuss, CEO of CounterPointe Sports Group, to News Tank, on 09/05/2022.

The American fund Counterpointe Sports Group acquired a controlling interest in Elan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez for €0.8m on 21/06/2021. CSG then started to sell shares of the club in the form of tokens from 26/04/2022, "a world first for a professional sports club."

"We bought 72% of the club, and we are going to allocate a certain amount of this 72% to sell tokens to the fans. When they buy tokens, fans are taking an economic interest away from CSG's 72 %.
