Women's World Cup 2023: Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau (NZL) to host the draw on 22/10/2022

Auckland / Tāmaki Makaurau (NZL) will host the draw for the Women's World Cup 2023 at the Aotea Centre on Saturday 22/10/2022, announced Fatma Samoura, FIFA secretary general, and Grant Robertson, New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister, on 13/05/2022.

"The draw is internationally significant. It provides an opportunity for New Zealand and Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau to showcase our culture and traditions to a global audience. The city will also host (at Eden Park in Auckland) the tournament’s opening ceremony and opening match featuring the 'Football Ferns' (New Zealand women's national football team) on 20/07/2023," said Grant Roberston, who is also the member of the New Zealand government in charge of the competition.

"Preparations are well underway in Australia and New Zealand to welcome the world’s largest women’s single-sport event. The official draw on 22/10/2022 marks an important milestone (271 days from the opening match) for teams and fans in the countdown to the Women’s World Cup 2023," said Fatma Samoura.
