"Congratulations to the entire Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga) club and its president Peter Fischer on this historic victory in the Europa League final, 42 years after their last European Cup triumph. It is a great success for German football, which Eintracht Frankfurt has represented outstandingly," said Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German Football Federation (DFB) on 19/05/2022.

Eintracht have been crowned 2021-22 Europa League champions after beating Rangers FC (cinch Premiership) in the final (1-1 after extra time, 6-5 on penalties) at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium (Seville, ESP), on Wednesday 18/05/2022.

This is the German club's second victory in the competition after winning the 1980 edition. At that time, the competition was known as the "UEFA Cup" (victory in the final against Borussia Mönchengladbach, GER, 2-3 in the first leg and 1-0 in the second leg on 07 and 21/05/1980).
