2021-22 Premier League: Manchester City FC win their eighth top flight title

Manchester City FC have been crowned as the 2021-22 Premier League champions after beating Aston Villa FC 3-2 on the Matchday 38, final matchday of the season on Sunday 22/05/2022. The club finished with 93 points, one more than Liverpool FC in second place (92 points), who won their final game 3-1 versus Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

This is Manchester City's second consecutive English top flight title and their eighth overall after 1936-37, 1967-68, 2011-12, 2013-14, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2020-21. It is the sixth time the club has won the Premier League since being acquired by Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment in 2008.

With eight English league titles, Manchester City remains the fifth most successful English club. The four clubs ahead of them are Manchester United FC (20 English top flight titles), Liverpool FC (19), Arsenal FC (13) and Everton FC (9).
