Stade de France incidents: "Presence of counterfeit tickets was the root cause" (G. Darmanin, MoI)

"There was a large-scale, industrial and organised fraud of counterfeit tickets. The pre-screening indicated that 70% of counterfeit tickets were found in the vicinity of the Stade de France. After passing this pre-screening, over 15% of the counterfeit tickets were found. The widespread presence of these counterfeit tickets was the 'root cause' which led to the match being postponed three times," said Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior for France, on 30/05/2022.

The French Minister took part in a meeting held at the Ministry of Sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games with all authorities (UEFA, FFF, Stade de France, Paris Police Prefecture, Prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis and the Ville de Saint-Denis) concerned by the incidents in the vicinity of the Stade au France (Saint-Denis, Paris, FRA) which delayed the kick-off of the 2022 Champions League final, Liverpool FC (Premier League) - Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) (0-1), originally scheduled for 28/05/2022 at 21:00 CET
