Chelsea FC: consortium led by Todd Boehly & Clearlake Capital completes acquisition of the club

The consortium led by the American Todd Boehly and the California (USA) based investment fund Clearlake Capital has completed the acquisition of Chelsea FC (Premier League), announced the club on 30/05/2022.

The sale of the London club to this group of investors, which also includes Swiss Hansjoerg Wyss and American Mark Walter, had been announced on 07/05/2022, but due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding the transaction - the club's Russian owner Roman Abramovich is subject to sanctions by Great Britain as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine led by Vladimir Putin - its completion required the approval of the British government in addition to the standard validation of the Premier League, both of which were obtained on 24/05/2022.
