LaLiga/Spain: new call for tenders for the broadcasting rights to LaLiga Smartbank (second division)

LaLiga has not received any bids for the exclusive broadcasting rights to LaLiga SmartBank matches for the 2022-2027 cycle and has launched a new tender, this time non-exclusive, on 31/05/2022.

The call for tenders for the exclusive rights to the Spanish second division was launched on 03/05/2022. By launching a new non-exclusive tender, the League hopes to sell these rights for a "similar amount to the previous cycle" and wants LaLiga SmartBank to be better distributed, with a "more competitive offer."

The Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro held the exclusive rights to broadcast two free-to-air games per matchday of the second division over the 2019-2022 cycle. The Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica held the exclusive pay-TV rights to all LaLiga SmartBank matches over the 2019-2022 cycle, for an estimated €15m per season.
